Meet Janasia

I’ve loved decorating and re-arranging spaces for as long as I can remember. I never really took what I found to be a “hobby” to become a possible career until my final year of high school. One of my teachers told me to pursue what makes me happy and I’ve done just that! There is no me without art, let alone creativity.

I obtained my BFA in Interior Architecture from the University of North Carolina Greensboro, and have since been working in home furnishings. My love for interior design has grown exponentially since partaking in curating visually aesthetic homes for my clients. Additionally, I am working towards obtaining my MBA with a concentration in Real Estate from North Carolina Central University in the Fall of 2026.

My drive and love for the arts is what has made Creative Hues Studio so far. Book a consultation if you are interested in our art and design services! And follow our journey to becoming a renowned, black-woman owned, business.

Past Projects

The Better Bistro Project

This collaborative project reimagines a neighborhood market and small restaurant in Greensboro, North Carolina, designed in partnership with a classmate. The concept focuses on promoting healthy, accessible food through an open floor plan that encourages movement, visibility, and community interaction.

Large openings and strategic sightlines connect the interior to surrounding apartments and nearby natural views, creating a light-filled, welcoming environment that blends dining, retail, and landscape into a cohesive community hub.

The Freelon Middle Project

This project proposes a scalable middle school prototype for Durham Public Schools, inspired by the work and design philosophy of architect Phil Freelon. The design centers accessibility, community, and inclusivity, with dedicated spaces supporting students with autism spectrum disorders through sensory-aware and flexible environments.

Developed with a minimum program requirement of 2,200 square feet, the prototype allows for free creative range while remaining functional, adaptable, and suitable for future implementation across DPS middle schools.

The Oasis Project Part 1

This second story guest bedroom exists with a cathedral ceiling, a bold accent wall with rust toned wall paper, and a serene view of a lake.

The forest green wainscoting ties the room together and maintains the “earthy” vibe that the clients were searching for.
